The library is now carrying a limited selection of Wii, PS3, and XBox360 videogames for one-week checkout, one game per patron, no holds allowed. Available in both the Adult and Youth Services Departments.

The library is now carrying a limited selection of Wii, PS3, and XBox360 videogames for one-week checkout, one game per patron, no holds allowed. Available in both the Adult and Youth Services Departments.
One of our favorite annual events is our Summer Reading program for both adults and children! The fun starts Saturday, June 13, 2009, and continues through Monday, August 10, 2009, so come in and sign up! To participate in the Adult and Young Adult (going into grades 9-12) Summer Reading Program, you must have a valid library card and a home address in Algonquin or Lake in the Hills. To participate in the Youth (birth through going into 8th grade) Summer Reading Program, you must live in the Algonquin Area Public Library District and have an Algonquin library card. All age groups will receive prizes for completing the program.
Don't forget that our library has a large book section devoted to resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, and job search strategies. Algonquin library card holders can also access a new online resource, LearningExpress Library, which offers courses in Job Search Skills, Career Practice Tests, Computer Skills, and many other areas. Just go to our Online Learning Resources page and click right in! And check our monthly Events Calendar often for job-related programs.

New online language tutorials are now available for at-home computer users in English (ESL), Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Dutch! Just choose Foreign Language Tutorials in our list of special databases, or click HERE. For Algonquin library cardholders only; requires a microphone.
